Jim has bravely invited me to demonstrate this by reading his photo. So I'm going through different levels, using some of the techniques in my books. Exploring a physical face for clues about the soul, you choose one item of data at a time to interpret. Unless you have a full hour to read a face, it's best to start with the VERYs, like Jim's narrow nose, which isn't merely in the narrow category but is VERY narrow. VERY intense on the outside equals VERY significant on the inside. Also, in my system of Face Reading Secrets®, each item of face data goes with a talent, plus a potential challenge (which I'll note with a question mark). Has Jim overcome each challenge yet? Only he -- or his wife -- knows for sure.

I.P. Editor Jim Barnes: His Face, His Aura, His Soul
Levels within levels open up whenever you use techniques of Deeper Perception. Jim has bravely invited me to demonstrate this by reading his photo. So I'm going through different levels, using some of the techniques in my books. I ask only that the mighty Editor -- or his wife -- add feedback.

Narrow Nose
Independent worker; self-motivated once he commits to any job.
Loathes working for other people, especially if they are micromanagers?
Up-Angled Eyebrows (Outer corners higher than inner corners)
Intellectual leadership; plugged into the Zeitgeist. In his areas of interest, Jim can understand the latest discoveries and use them. Hey, he might even write about them!
Incredulous (and frustrated) when encountering people who are intellectually stuck in the past and proud of it?
Major Chin Thrust (Check out the 3-D action on that chin)
Loves to compete. Rather than feeling intimidated, Jim gets fired up. He can produce some of his best results under pressure.
More intense than he knows, might he sometimes do the equivalent of shooting an ant with a cannon?
Aura Reading

The human energy field is packed with information. Anyone can learn to read this. Numerous databanks within auras are grouped together at what are traditionally called "chakras." For fun, I chose databanks related to the nose, eyebrows and chin items just discussed.
Work Emotions
Relating to Others (at the Heart Chakra) Compartmentalizes -- like a warm-hearted general who nevertheless is tough on his soldiers. Jim relates more tenderly to his magazine readers than to his magazine's contributors. He has been lovely to me with our interview, don't get me wrong, but his aura reveals that Jim won't hesitate to push when that's needed to produce results.
Intellectual Specialties (at the Solar Plexus Chakra)
Jim is an intellectual gourmet with a huge appetite. Ideas and good writing thrill him the way a foodie is delighted by a good meal.
Physical Presence Databank (at the Root Chakra)
Commanding presence: If Jim didn't play at least one sport well when growing up, I'm a champ at Tiddlywinks! Physical confidence spills over into how he carries himself...and how he rolls up his sleeves at work.
Empathic Exploration

Empaths effortlessly move into direct experience of being other people. Writers, I suspect, are especially apt to be empaths. (In America at large, 1 in 20 people is naturally talented as an empath.) Whatever your gift(s), until skilled, you pick up other people's pain constantly. With skill, you stop. Plus, at will, you can travel extra deeply into what I call "otherness."
What is it like to be Jim? At the time of this photo, he's physically strong; sexy in a way that is definitely hetero, male and warmhearted. His larger-than-life personality is naturally expressive. He's shocked if people have problems with it, like a huge puppy that sometimes knocks down the kids. Jim also has a terrific sense of humor and can be really playful, but here's one thing he takes immensely seriously: Writing.

Jim responds:
Face Reading
That’s right, I don’t work well under close supervision – that’s why I’m the editor (and reporter, copy boy and janitor)…and yes, I’m a major intellectual development junkie, especially when it comes to writing, publishing and communications issues. I appreciate the past, but yes, it’s frustrating when people don’t learn from it and use those lessons to evolve. (Sounds like our current military leadership, doesn’t it?) What, me intense? Yes, I do go way overboard sometimes; I edit my editorial rants heavily, usually after a day-long cooling off period. Not today, though.
Aura Reading
I have to be tough, it’s an editorial tradition! But it’s tough love, really, and there are few things better than the synergy of two minds collaborating on a great piece of writing. Of course, I’m nicer to my readers – they’re my favorite people on the planet! Luckily, my appetites for food and literature have flip-flopped as I’ve gotten older. Cooking is still a hobby, but it used to be a major obsession; now I cook fast and efficient so I have time for more “meaty” pursuits. Sports: they didn’t call me “Clutch” on my high school golf team for nothing…
Empathetic Exploration
Yes, I’m definitely heterosexual, and I like to think I’m much more sexy than funny. You’re right on, Rose, I do take writing – and puppies – very seriously.
