ACQUISITIONS AND RIGHTS DIRECTOR JOINS QVC PUBLISHING, INC.
Karen Murgolo named Acquisitions and Rights Director, newly created position at QVC.
Jill Cohen, Vice President of QVC Publishing, Inc., the publishing subsidiary of e-commerce leader, QVC, Inc., has announced that Karen Murgolo has joined the company as its Acquisitions and Rights Director. In this newly created position, Murgolo is responsible for acquiring new books and authors for a variety of non-fiction lifestyle titles, including cooking, decorating, beauty and fashion.Murgolo brings a wealth of experience to QVC Publishing. Previously, as Senior Editor at Bookspan, Inc.'s The Literary Guild and GuildAmerica Books, Murgolo's responsibilities included acquiring books in the lifestyle areas as well as developing original books for the Doubleday Direct Book Clubs. Prior to that, she was the Current Member Marketing Manager at Meredith Corporation's Better Homes and Garden's Cook Book Club. Murgolo was also the Acquisitions and Development Editor at Unipub/R.R. Bowker and was Associate Editor at Addison-Wesley Publishing Co. where she acquired best-selling how-to reference books including The Mary Kay Guide To Beauty.

In addition, Murgolo is a judge for the James Beard Journalism Awards and is a member of the Women's Media Group. She graduated cum laude from Wesleyan University and completed Radcliffe's Publishing Procedures Course.
Launched in 1998, QVC Publishing has 13 non-fiction lifestyle titles ranging from cookbooks to fashion and beauty to home decorating. Its first book, My Family's Best , by Bob Bowersox, host of QVC's popular 'In The Kitchen With Bob' series, sold more than 120,000 hardcover copies in one day. All of QVC Publishing titles are available in bookstores everywhere and are distributed nationally through CDS.
