Best Audiobook Titles of the Year Honored in New York

Results of the The Audies® 2007 Audiobook Awards

The Audio Publishers Association (APA) announced the winners of the 2007 Audie Awards at the storied Rainbow Room in New York City on June 1st, 2007. The APA recognized their peers at the annual audio publishing industry award ceremony – often called the Oscars of the audiobook industry – that honors the best titles of the year across a number of genres.

The Audies® awards gala was hosted by the acclaimed narrator of the Harry Potter
audiobooks and Grammy and Tony Award-winning actor, Jim Dale. The Audies® winners were announced in 32 categories, including a special Judges’ Award for titles in the Politics category and the highlight of the evening, the Audiobook of the Year Award. A Special Achievement Award was presented to Don Katz, CEO and founder of Audible.com to recognize his innovations and contributions to the industry.

This year, APA and AudioFile magazine joined together to provide an interactive way to listen to this year’s winners. The website, www.theaudies.com, allows listeners to read a review about the winning audiobook and listen to a sample of it.
